On Friday 1 May 2026 Kishwer Falkner wrote an article in “The Times.”

The title was “Silence on antisemitism shames us as British Muslims: Britain's social contract depends on minorities defending each other's rights, not retreating into sectarian grievance.” [The link will allow you to read it without a Times subscription.]

The following day, GB News asked me to appear on their programme “The Weekend” presented by Dawn Neesom. Given the subject matter, I asked them to describe me as Co-Chair of The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester.

I agreed with Baroness Falkner, and some of the points I made were:

• Jews are only 0.5% of Britain. The other 99.5% of us all have a duty to speak up about their personal safety and ability to live without being abused. This obviously includes Muslims, but also everyone else in society.
• I have sometimes met antisemitic Muslims.
• Muslims need to remember that they were once far more tolerant than Christian Europe, and that 80% of the Jews expelled by Catholic Spain went to live in the Ottoman Empire.
• Schools need much better education in civics.
